Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the issuance of timely, accurate and complete financial statements in compliance with international financial reporting standards. Including filing of quarterly and annual reports with the Canadian Securities Exchange
  • Analyze and conclude on technical accounting matters
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting and reporting of consolidated business results.
  • Develop, maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, cash management, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
  • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
  • Coordination of quarterly and annual review and audit procedures with external audit firms.
  • Recruit, train, develop and retain a highly skilled accounting team

 

Desired Qualifications

The controller candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a large public company, a division of a large public company and/or public accounting firms.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting/finance
  • Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
  • Experience with financial reporting
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Certified Public Accountant designation
  • Familiarity with IFRS a plus
  • Experience with managing and working with auditors
  • Subject to background check per state cannabis regulations
