Principal Accountabilities
Responsible for the issuance of timely, accurate and complete financial statements in compliance with international financial reporting standards. Including filing of quarterly and annual reports with the Canadian Securities Exchange
Analyze and conclude on technical accounting matters
Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting and reporting of consolidated business results.
Develop, maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, cash management, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
Coordination of quarterly and annual review and audit procedures with external audit firms.
Recruit, train, develop and retain a highly skilled accounting team
Desired Qualifications
The controller candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a large public company, a division of a large public company and/or public accounting firms.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting/finance
Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
Experience with financial reporting
Preference will be given to candidates with a Certified Public Accountant designation
Familiarity with IFRS a plus
Experience with managing and working with auditors
