General Summary: The Purchasing Specialist is primarily responsible for coordinating activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, advertising and analyzing various financial data for the organization. This is a great opportunity for someone who has entry-level or 1 year Purchasing experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reviews requisitions/purchase requests. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Estimates values according to your knowledge of market price. Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests. Reviews bid proposals and coordinates with the Chief Financial Officer to negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintains procurement records such as purchased items or services, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action. Review invoices for accuracy prior to payment. Expedites delivery of goods to users. Prepares various data analysis reports for review by the Chief Financial Officer. Purchases office supplies for shipping/receiving office Maintains/manages files for shipping/receiving office Performs other related duties as needed to meet production and department demands Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university preferred; and one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be highly proficient in Excel Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV preferred Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This is NOT a work from home position. Our company is considered an essential supply chain business, therefore you will be physically required in the office. Masks, gloves and face shields are provided to all, as needed.
