The Manager, Fleet Operations is responsible for the health, safety, and efficiency of HERBLs transportation fleet. This role manages third party relationships with Vehicle sourcing, maintenance and repair partners and Service Providers and works closely with Operations leaders at HERBL to ensure network capacity is adequate to demand. The Fleet Manager manages to the Transportation budget, tracking vehicle acquisition and run costs, and making recommendations on vehicle usage. They manage and report on daily vehicle status and manages the schedule and rotation of vehicles to maximize their lifespan and maintain cost effective vehicle operating efficiency. Also will maintain the new vehicle build profile and works with building and leasing partners to source HERBL vehicle equipment needs. The Manager, Fleet Operations may have direct reports, and if so, is responsible for setting performance targets and developing the team’s proficiency. Works closely with Sales and Operations, Fleet and Customer Call Center managers, as well as other Cross-functional leaders to deliver an end-to-end service experience that exceeds customer expectation while managing cost and safety priorities in the network.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and maintain vehicle records and reports. Publish daily vehicle status report showing vehicles in and out of service. Work with Customer facing operations teams to reposition vehicles as needed.
  • Establish and maintain active partnerships with Quality Coachworks, Ryder and other vehicle build, maintenance, and repair partners
  • Work closely with A/P to ensure invoices are processed efficiently and all licensing and fees related to vehicle fleet are paid timely with no penalties.
  • Maintain vehicle insurance in good standing
  • Review and Oversight of Ryder maintenance program, managing costs and service
  • Track unbudgeted costs and make recommendations to prevent budget overruns and maximize vehicle life.
  • Track and report on vehicle utilization, mileage, service, and repair issues
  • Manage communication throughout the organization regarding Vehicle status and performance. Provide regular progress updates and recommendations
  • Assist LP and Compliance teams with information and decision support for accidents, record-keeping and other issues as needed.
  • Support fleet retrofits or roll -out of new equipment.
  • Ensure projects are integrated with other business activities, improvement projects, and the business strategy.

  • Hands on experience in Routing and scheduling using Omnitracs
  • Working knowledge of Blue Yonder Warehouse Management System, and HERBL operational processes
  • Knowledge of general working practices and regulations governing California cannabis industry.
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thought processes to develop, recommend and implement strategies and programs that address operational and corporate objectives.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy to include corporate offices.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict effectively and problem solve.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • 3-5 years of experience leading teams and/or projects
  • High School Diploma or GED (preference given to AA or Higher degree).
  • AA degree minimum with focus on logistics, operations management, customer service or sales
  • Prior routing and scheduling experience
