Director, Quality Assurance (QAP) with Rubicon Organics

As the Quality Assurance Person (QAP), you are critical in delivering our super premium organic cannabis to provide an incredible consumer and patient experience. You will lead the execution of our QA programs, ensuring a Quality culture across the entire organization. You and your team uphold the highest quality standards while ensuring compliance with Health Canada.

We are looking for a strong, dedicated Director of QA who wants to leave a tangible legacy:

· Lead & Partner with the Operations team to meet production process and product quality standards to ensure the highest quality cannabis

· Release and approve each batch of high-quality cannabis prior to its sale to clients

· As a member of the Operations leadership team, role model the mission, vision and values of Rubicon organics, and lead the Canada team to exceed expectations so that all our stakeholders share in the extraordinary value that we create

Responsibilities:

· Release and approve each batch of cannabis prior to its sale to clients, which includes keeping complete and auditable batch records

· Initiate recalls along with Recall team, investigate complaints related to quality, investigate quality issues in the facility, perform audits (internal and external)

· Investigate client complaints (when related to the quality of the product)

· Initiate Corrective Action and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) when investigating quality issues

· Initiate audit programs (regulatory, internal and third party)

· Approve methods and procedures related to production, packaging, labeling and storage of cannabis prior to their implementation

· Approve SOPs prior to their implementation; sign off on all operational forms

· Prepare and send samples for third party testing. Review third party results. Communicate with the third party lab regarding any questions or concerns

· Ensure that all testing is conducted in a timely fashion and within approved established framework and that all generated data reflect the commitments to integrity and quality through prompt evaluation of the data generated through testing. (E.g. Moisture Analysis, ATP testing for sanitation, environmental control swab/testing, in-house micro testing)

· Recruit and train employees to carry out functions of the Quality Department

· Review the performance of direct reports with regards to the achievement of goals and objectives

· Review and approve all analytical data to support product testing and release (Batch release process, testing according to Schedule B of Food and Drug Act)

· Perform and maintain a program for calibration and maintenance equipment (e.g. scales, ATP meter)

· Approve the use of products and materials (i.e. Equipment, pesticides, biologicals, nutrients, soil, growing mediums) according to GMP and/or Organic Standard for Cannabis products as per FVOPA Internal Standards

· Be part of Health Canada inspections, reply to HC observations. Be part of CRA inspections

· Ensure inventory is accurate and reporting to HC and CRA is done appropriately

Requirements:

· 5+ years of experience in a quality position within, pharmaceutical, natural health product or the Cannabis industry. Knowledge and experience with cannabis regulations is preferred

· 5+ years’ experience leading a Quality team

· Experience developing and leading continual improvement of a cGMP quality management system

· Experience in quality control operations with a producer regulated by the Food and Drugs Act; agri-food processing, pharmaceutical and/or other industries that are certified HACCP Canada

· Experience and or knowledge with one or more of the following regulations: Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulation (ACMPR) and the Food and Drug Act (FDA); Food and Drug Regulations; Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA); as well as Pest Control Products Act (PCPA) and the Fertilizers Act is an asset

· Experience in an ISO: 9001, ISO: 13485 or ISO: 17025 environments is an asset

· Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with numerous stakeholders

· Proven analytical & creative thinking, and adept at solving problems

· Proactive; able to anticipate issues. Can keep up with changing priorities in an extremely fast paced environment

· Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field

· Must have the ability to obtain security clearance
