  • Lead and develop an effective compliance program through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices. 
  • Cultivate a team-oriented compliance culture for efficiently and effectively managing compliance throughout the Company, including oversight of subsidiary Metrc Compliance Officers across the organization.
  • Interact with relevant business leaders on changing laws, policies, and regulations; partner with company executives to mitigate emerging compliance risks; and implement compliance programs and policies to ensure no breaches of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Create and oversee a process that is reasonably designed to ensure that applicable regulatory changes are addressed completely and consistently across the organization.
  • Oversee and continue to develop processes to ensure that compliance performance is measured through monitoring and testing activities, and the results of such activities are recorded and escalated as appropriate.
  • Oversee the compliance department’s risk assessment process and lead implementation of action plans to appropriately mitigate residual risks.
  • Stay abreast of changing laws and regulations that affect all Company entities as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
  • Promote awareness and responsibility through training and regular communication across the enterprise. guidelines and internal policies
  • Evaluating the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously
  • Revise procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues
  • Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies

  • Draft, modify and implement company compliance/licensing policies
  • Collaborate with corporate counsels and HR departments to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations
  • Assess the business’s future ventures to identify possible compliance risks
  • Review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training
  • Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate

 

What we're looking for...

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA a plus
  • 7+ years of compliance experience in a heavily regulated industry, cannabis industry preferred
  • Experience implementing a manual and/or vendor compliance systemKnowledge of the cannabis industry and associated laws, regulations and ordinances
  • Established relationships with relevant cannabis trade associations, lobbying teams, and elected officials, regulators, and staff to promulgate statute and regulations which promote the mission of Kiva and the cannabis industry   
  • Ability interact regularly with regulators (state, local) to address compliance questions and compliance that arise Ability to read and understand laws, ordinances rules and regulations
  • Ability to explain regulations in a way that is understandable to all team members
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies to achieve organizational goals
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; sophisticated interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop strong internal relationships, influence others and work as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Ability and willingness to develop expertise in new regulatory areas as necessary to meet the needs of our business
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment
