The CCO will ensure that the company complies with applicable healthcare-related laws and regulations and meets the requirements of the company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics. The CCO will review and evaluate compliance issues within the company; monitor and report results of the compliance/ethics efforts of the company; lead multi-disciplinary efforts within the company related to compliance; and provide guidance for, and have a direct link to, the Board of Directors and Executive Management on matters relating to compliance. The CCO must exhibit the highest level of integrity and ethics and be a valued strategic partner to the business to drive compliance throughout the company.

 

What you'll dive into 

  • Design, build, implement and maintain a robust and effective compliance program
  • Recruit, lead and manage a skilled team of compliance professionals
  • Serve as Chair of Compliance Committee and report on the status of compliance program on a regular basis to Compliance Committee, Executive Management and the Board of Directors
  • Modify the compliance program, as appropriate, to reflect changes, clarifications or updates in applicable laws, regulations and policies; and changes in the nature or scope of business
  • Oversee the annual risk assessment and mitigation process and apprise the Compliance Committee, Executive Management and the Board of Directors of the results
  • Develop annual communication, training, monitoring and auditing plans and oversee the execution of such plans
  • Oversee the creation of new policies and procedures and the annual review of existing policies and procedures
  • Oversee the investigation of suspected violations of applicable laws, regulations or policies and recommend corrective action (including disciplinary action), where appropriate, and ensure any compliance concerns are documented and acted upon in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Managing the department budget and coordinating with vendors, third parties, and others to develop and maintain the compliance program

 

What we expect

  • MA/MS or JD (from an ABA-accredited law school) and a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience at a pharmaceutical/biotech company
  • Experience leading and managing a corporate compliance function
  • In-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical industry with expertise in the body of laws and regulations impacting pharmaceutical companies
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial, compliance and regulatory matters related to the launch and subsequent commercialization of branded pharmaceutical products
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues and concepts and influence across a cross-functional matrix organization
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with demonstrated ability to think creatively and devise solutions to challenging problems
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership, highly collaborative
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
  • Ability to travel
