Position Summary:

The Construction Project Manager will oversee all Urbn Leaf building projects. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing construction decisions, budgeting, carrying out quality control, manage to store opening schedules, reviewing designs, and creating proposals.

 

 

The person in this role will oversee the construction process from conceptualization to completion. This includes oversight of architects, designers, construction supervisors, contractors, and various trade workers. The Construction Project Manager will report on the progress of the project to the Executive Team and local officials. This person must have excellent planning skills and be able to effectively schedule tasks, meet deadlines, and follow a budget. They also must effectively manage contractors and vendors, monitoring quality of work performed, and ensuring tasks are completed within budgetary and time restrictions. The Construction Project Manager must be able to read blueprints and schematics, building codes, and relevant laws to ensure the project is in compliance with building standards and regulations.

 

 

Much of the work is completed at project sites, which may involve some level of physical risk. Though most work occurs within typical business hours, construction project managers must be available at all times in case of emergency. The Construction Project Manager must have extensive knowledge of tools, processes, and materials involved in general construction. This person must be able to remain calm under pressure, act decisively, maintain oversight of the budget, be flexible, and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Assertive and attentive communication skills are essential. This job requires a lot of multitasking, so the ability to stay calm under pressure while keeping deadlines is important. Though the Construction Project Manager will be based in an office, much of the work is done in the field, which will occasionally require out-of-town travel, anticipated to be limited to California at this time.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and oversee implementation of design for construction, renovation, and maintenance projects.
  • Consult with Company representatives to direct project development.
  • Actively set and manage budgeting, scheduling, and other managerial aspects of project.
  • Select, coordinate, and manage contractors needed for project.
  • Manage on-site construction activities as the designated Project Manager.
  • Report to executive team on all elements of risk associated with scope, schedule and budget.
  • Monitor daily work activities to ensure proper adherence to job site safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate to maintain the project schedule to avoid potential delays, achieve milestones and meet completion dates.
  • Preparation of thorough, accurate and timely estimates for all projects, including the preparation of bid documents and the development of clear written proposals and correspondence.
  • Plan and monitor the best allocation of resources, within a defined budget, to meet project expectations.
  • Review plans and specifications and ensure thorough and accurate take-offs.
  • Contact sub-contractors, suppliers, and specialty services for quotes.
  • Works with estimating team and upper management as needed in the preparation and final evaluation of bids.
  • Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.

     

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be over the age of 21.
  • Knowledge of cannabis operations is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Skills in database management and record keeping are required.
  • Ability to process basic functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel; MS Word required.
  • Previous experience working in the construction field.
  • Experience with project management databases and platforms.
  • Decision making skills and ability to work in high production environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects at once.
  • Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid (or similar estimating software) a plus.

Must be motivated, hard-working, and passionate. This position requires someone who is highly organized and detailed with the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities, and knows how to manage and develop construction budgets and timelines.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of project management experience preferred
  • 4+ years of project management experience may be substituted for degree

     

 

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Valid California Driver's License

     

 

Physical Demands/Requirements:

The following are constant demands for this position:

  • Must be able to stand/walk for up to 6 hours at a time
  • Must be able to sit for up to 8 hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds safely and properly
  • Must be able to work days, nights, holidays and weekends
  • Must have the ability to travel. This position requires up to 40% travel
  • Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule during the current pandemic- telecommute with occasional in office days
